First Aid Salve

This salve is best described as a nutritive, living food for the skin. It helps calm inflammation, reduce redness, soothe irritation, and ease uncomfortable itching. It’s also incredibly effective for cuts, burns, rashes, acne, and other everyday skin concerns. Simply put—it’s our go-to salve for almost everything.

While this salve supports and soothes the skin, it’s important to note that it does not address the root cause of eczema, which can be complex and often related to gut health or food sensitivities. Instead, this salve is designed to relieve the external symptoms associated with eczema and other inflammatory skin conditions.

Why We Chose These Ingredients

Manuka Honey (UMF 16+)

Manuka honey contains unique compounds found only in honey from New Zealand’s native manuka bush. When applied to the skin, it helps retain moisture (reducing flare-ups), calms inflammation, supports healing, and inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria—particularly Staphylococcus, commonly found on eczema-prone skin. We use only high-grade Manuka honey (UMF 16+), as higher UMF ratings indicate a greater concentration of these beneficial properties.

Black Seed Oil

Black seed oil is exceptionally rich in antioxidants and is one of the most potent natural antimicrobial oils known. Its active compounds—thymol, thymoquinone, and thymohydroquinone—help fight bacterial, fungal, and microbial activity that can worsen skin conditions. It also reduces inflammation and helps cleanse pores, making it effective for eczema, rashes, and acne.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil contains all essential amino acids and fatty acids required for skin health, along with the unique protein edestin, similar to proteins found in human blood plasma. It offers powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant support, helping to nourish and strengthen compromised skin.

Neem Oil

Neem is well-known for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and analgesic properties. Compounds such as nimbin and nimbidin have demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects comparable to both non-steroidal and steroidal medications. Many people experience rapid relief from itching and discomfort when neem is applied to irritated skin, while its antibacterial properties help prevent secondary infections.

Calendula, Comfrey & Plantain Herbs

These herbs are infused using a solar cold-infusion process over three months, allowing their full healing properties to be gently extracted and preserved. Together, they offer exceptional anti-inflammatory and skin-repairing benefits for wounds, rashes, and irritated skin.

What to Expect

The scent of this salve is… unique. One local customer described it as smelling like freshly sharpened pencils—and we agree! Black seed oil has a naturally strong aroma, which is mostly balanced by the other ingredients, though it may still come through slightly. Once applied, the scent fades quickly and does not linger.

Because of the Manuka honey, the salve can feel slightly tacky at first, but it absorbs gradually and stays on the skin for hours—allowing the ingredients time to work deeply and effectively.

As always, this salve is made with organic, raw, and unfiltered ingredients whenever possible. Packaged in a 2 oz glass jar, we never use parabens, artificial fragrances, triglycerides, or synthetic additives—only ingredients chosen with intention, integrity, and care.
